Can anybody help me identify the year of this Starfire 4?

I was told it was from the 90's but it looks too aged to me to be that new. Thanks

Welcome cdiaz!

That serial number dates the guitar to just after Guild's notoriously inconsistent dating sheet cuts off in 1997, so my best guess would be 1998. Our resident guru Hans Moust would know for sure.

Thank you. That guitar was pretty thrashed for a 90's guitar. It played really well and the pickups sounded nice though. How different are 90's SF4 pickups to say 60's or 70's? I think I want to get one, but I'm not sure yet what year to look for.

cdiaz says, not realizing he's probably setting off a lengthy thread:

SF4s have a fanatical following here, and I'm sure you'll hear plenty. There's a lot to be said about all of them, and a fair amount of difference when it comes to nut width and even scale IIRC, but I'll leave that up to those more knowledgable here. I owned a perfect '97 blonde for a while that now lives with another member here.

Ahhhh... let's sit back and watch the fun.

I have a '73. I like it a lot. I've played a '67, and I like it, too. I've never tried a later version, but a lot of folks love them.
