Buffering

It seems lately that youtube is constantly buffering (or something). It seems that I can't get through a single video without the darn thing stopping over and over again, apparently buffering!? I mean, I love our favorite musicians here on LTG but what gives here. I sit and wait for their videos. What gives? Does anyone know what the problem might be? I haven't had this happen for ages.

Peace

Same complaint here. Just trying to listen to steely dan. Of course I'm using a 9 year old Mac powerbook so I think its just old and slow like me. :)

I've had some problems today, for the first time in a very long time. Maybe on YouTube's end?

One solution is to download videos, watch without stutter and then delete when done.

Mind that also a lot of videos are now in HD, means the amount of data to download and process is much larger than it used to be. Now if your computer is older, and does not have a fast processor and large internal memory, it starts to constantly buffer things. Also if your internet connection / Wireless LAN is not the latest it might lead to the same issues. I would say any computer older than 3 years is not longer fit for today's high bandwidth/high processing power requirements. My dads computer is now 10 years old, yes it still works but things like Youtube are very slow there. I convinced him to look for a new one soon. There isn't really a vintage computer market...

I'll typically hit the pause button as soon as a video starts, do something else while I wait for it to load, then re-start it.

Also, it seems to me that UTube video & audio aren't synched as well as they used to be.

Seen that too. I think it is due to buffering. Several of the tools for playback will sacrifice video to keep audio playing in real time if there is some kind of resource bottleneck.

I find I have better luck when I slow down the settings from 360 to 240. Audio/video synchs better for my machine. :)

And do I see a new Avatar honoring the Capn?

Yessir. Hard to see in the avatar size, but just a hint of the countless hours he spent seflessly teaching and coaching on my amp rebuild. Thanks for noticing. :)

For someone I never met In Real Life, I'm grieving and missing him much more than I would have imagined, so I Notice Things - such as the avatar and that default has stepped up to help with amps.
