I think I know what you're trying to say, but to be fair, early MTV was actually pretty edgy, giving us the likes of Talking Heads and Adrian Belew, and U2, and the Pretenders and Kate Bush....I saw Blur and Red Hot Chili Peppers for the first time on MTV.
I think the Black Keys would have been right at home.
Personally I'd call it "Early MTV and "MTV after Live Aid".
Video killed the radio star and the hairbands didn't have anyplace else to go. :x :wink:

Picked up El Camino, the new album by The Black Keys and I'm actually listening to it as I type this. Very good stuff. And Dan Auerbach plays a Thunderbird. I'd definitely recommend it.

Same song (Gold on the Ceiling) on the same guitar (sunburst S-200 Thunderbird) on three different programs in four days. Not too shabby.
