I'm not her biggest fan, but let's give her credit. Like Adele, she actually sings her songs, and she really only has one person she writes songs with, her brother Finneas. This video is of a show from her recent tour. It's her, her brother on keyboards, guitar, etc. and a drummer. That's it. No dancers, no autotune, nothing but her and two other people. A massive stage and plenty of lights and videos, but what a different approach for a young artist. Just turned 20, I think.

Big fan of hers. Here's a nice Tiny Desk Home Concert from NPR:

And here she is on WXPN's World Cafe:

I pretty much share Shihan's perspective on this one. Her music doesn't really move me, but I also wouldn't say I dislike it. I give her credit for being an artist.
Maybe a few more pop artists like her, making actual music, could help move pop trends back toward actual music made by actual artists. Of course those terms are subjective, but that's just how this breaks down in my mind. To me, art occurs at the intersection of (A) some degree of creativity and (B) some degree of skill. If the generation of any given end product (song, painting, decorative landscaping, etc.) doesn't implement at least a little bit both, I personally wouldn't call it art.
