Hey guys,

don't suppose anybody has ever tried, since I am one of the few people that actually have this guitar, but I'm wondering if I can install a Bigsby trem with the Vibramate on my 82 S-275. Does anyone know which Bigsby I'd need?

thanks,
Casey

I'd say "don't do it" because of the location of the knobs. I would think the bar would get in the way constantly. I also say "don't do it" because I don't want you to deface that beautiful guitar.

Re: Bigsby/vibramate on S 275?

Ahh, to my understanding the Vibramate would keep me from having to drill any holes:

Hadn't thought about the knobs. Good call. Will look into it.

My reason for considering this is the S-275 covers similar tonal territory as my S-100 (soon to return home) and a few other Hamers I have. With a Bigsby, it would have some variation the others can't offer, therefore would get played more, therefore will keep me from being tempted to sell and lose my arse :)

Thanks for the reply, Thunder.

(P.S.: S-100 back to me (fingers crossed) tomorrow.)

Now if it indeed comes back to you tomorrow, remember to pick up the camera and post some photos before you get lost in all its cosmetic and tonal loveliness. I don't want to hear any of this "Sorry I haven't posted photos, fellas, but I've been too busy playing it," stuff.

Re: Bigsby/vibramate on S 275?

Tried the B5/Vibramate.

So far so good. The bridge post holes didn't match up exactly with those on the Guild, so I had to slightly bend the Vibramate to get it to fit. Then the Bigsby didnt exactly fit the Vibramate, so I am only rockin 3 screws to attach the Bigsby, but seems to work just fine with 3.

Nice to finally make this one my own. This guitar had kind of a 'haunting' quality to it anyways, especially all soaked in delay/verb, and the Bigsby does a great job of adding to that.

Now for PICS!

If you were going to deface that beautiful S-275 , I think you did it right by it with that Bigsby. It looks great.
