Happy Thanksgiving to all!

As for this thread, I am interested in the opinion of my fellow LTG'ers on which is the best Guild acoustic for under $500. I play mostly electric at this time and as a result I am way out of the acoustic loop. My nephew may be in the market for an acoustic soon, and any input is appreciated.

As far as dreads go, $500 is near the low end for a decent D-25 on eBay (my D-25 and G-37 were each <$600, but that was 4 years ago)... but finding a good one at that price can take some patience. Suprisingly, D-35s often undersell D-25s... when I sold my wife's 35 a couple years back, the median selling price on eBay was right around $450... again, you just need to keep your eyes open. Probably the least expensive dread would be a D-4... I've never played one, but several LTGers are quite happy with theirs.

Happy Thanksgiving...

Be careful though. That price range will see a lot of guitars that are in need of a neck reset.
If you buy sight unseen, be sure to have a return policy just in case.
There will be some GAD Guilds from China in that range, if interested.

Doesn't our own Steffan have a minty D4 for just a wee bit more than $500? Oh yeah, here. Probably can't go too far wrong there. 8)

I just bought that much talked about 1994 D4 for 415.00 with a gig bag. I ordered a case for it and it came to 505.00 total. The guitar is perfect, by the way....

You would be surprised what you could get for $500 if you are patient enough. A D4 is definitely in reach as well as some D25s. I was able to get an excellent condition '97 F30 with the help of Treem for $550. I have also heard of D40s selling for prices in this range as well.

For that matter, I only paid ~$550 for my '74 G-37... ties my D-25 for MY best Guild deal (aside from the $300 I paid for the D-35 that started it all back in '73).

It's been a couple years, but $500 is what I paid for my G37. I did have to spend another $125 or so to have it set up & tweaked. Still probably the best bang for the buck of any I own.

D25 from Corona or D25 from Westerly.

for non-Guilds the Yamaha FG700S is a SUPER acoustic.

but lets face it, why would you NOT want a Guild!
