WONDERFUL report of your trip! I love it! A 7 string guitar! Had not seen that model before! Congratulations!

Re: Back from London... Trip Report!

Cool report thanks Bill... brings so many sweet memories of my equipment buying trips there (particularly worth it for Marshall amps I recall).

So the story doesn't say, or I missed it, were you able to keep the guitar(s) with you in the cabin, or did you have to check it (them)?

Flew United Airlines from San Francisco to London Heathrow and back. They couldn't have been nicer about letting me bring my guitar onboard both ways. The Hiscox Pro II case never got put to the test!

One very important thing to remember is to remove EVERYTHING from the case except the guitar, even the endpin. Doing so will preserve your guitar should things get loose in the case during handling. Further, I've never had a guitar case opened after going through the Xray machine at Security. They can see on their screen that there's only a guitar in the case and nothing else, i.e., "No threat".

And, BE SURE to remove the battery in your guitar if it has an active pickup!!!

It's a good thing! Problem with checking guitars is not how good the case is or how well tucked in the guitar is, it's about these guys pulling it out, and throwing it around, looking for whatever it is they are looking for, in the luggage they decide to open, and getting it back with dings and scratches because of a jerk whom didn't give a damn about it (speaking from experience).
The only way to go is keeping it cabin.
