Hello, this is my first post and I must say that i've gotten some good info from here since signing up just two days ago.
First let me start off by saying that i'm a lefty and that I feel fortunate to own a 1974 Guild Starfire IV and a 1991 X160. (i'll post pics as soon as I read the 56k post) My question is: does anyone have any good resources for finding Guild replacement knobs? (other than e-bay) My X160 is missing the "G" emblem on one of the knobs and i'm looking for a replacement. Thanks.

Welcome.

Replacement knobs are pretty scarce, if I recall correctly. Maybe someone will chime in and correct me by naming a source.

Welcome, and do post some pics as soon as you can.

As for replacement parts I would recommend Hans Moust, a member out here and author of The Guild Guitar Book. From the main page click on the "Members" link in the top right, then find "hansmoust" (3rd registered member). A listing of some of the parts he has is on his website. I have gotten an X-500 pickup ring, an X-170 rosewood bridge, and a gold harp tailpiece for my X-170 from Hans, and his prices seem fair. Not all of those parts were listed on his site, so feel free to contact him if you don't see what you are looking for.

Good luck!

OK...that worked. I haven't looked at these pictures in years. Time to take new ones. I do have a question....what year did Guild stop making the Starfire IV with the master volume?

Welcome AIM, and thanks for posting the photos. I'm sure we have more southpaws, but the one that immediately comes to mind is another relative newbie, Low End Lenny. As for the photos, you did just fine, although if you put the image links on separate lines, the type won't wrap through the photos, like this.

welcome,
I'm a lefty, too.
But I play righthanded. 8)
Back in the days it seemed more suitable, because I always thought, my (left) strong hand should do the more difficult things (chords, scales, etc.).

Well, I'm still working on that.
