Looks as if I can't make the concert on Feb 12th (today) since I was operated on my right eye yesterday (retina reconstruction). However, since the exhibition lasts until July 4th, I still think it would be a great idea to meet as a group and after the exhibition, have lunch together or even dinner (time permitting). Perhaps we can wait until the Spring (nicer weather please) but not too long off as July gets pretty hot and humid in the city! Think about it. Actually, I couldn't make the famous Guild factory tour/get together in Connecticut last year due to transporation issues and I feel left out of the whole field trip group thingie! :(

One of my brothers sent me the Bulletin from the exhibit (if they'd been paintings, would the pub have been called a Catalog?) Scans of several pics:

D'Angelico New Yorker:

And ... for Mandosquirrel, Darryl, Steel and the others who enjoy mandolins;

Some guy named Pete with a D'Angelico New Yorker

The back cover; details from one of John Monteleone's guitars:

Remarkable :shock: :shock: :shock:

Just beautiful, Cap'n! I think we must try to organize an outing in the spring. The beginning of May would be just about right.

I read through most of the Bulletin and for any of us harboring dreams about being the next D'Angelico ... Mr. Monteleone is 47; and he seems pretty good at what he's doing so if any of the Geezers here are thinking about what they could do with a basement full of power tools and a spray booth ... they better hurry! :wink:

I hope the greater NY chapter of LTG can make the pilgrimage; I wouldn't be able to make it but what a charming afternoon it would be. :D

Hey Capn,

You're a bit off on John Monteleone's age. He is not 47 but he's from 1947. Let's all hope that he will be with us for many years to come!

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Heading down to the city later this month to see the show, and also to MoMA for the Warhol exhibit.

There is a stellar app for your ipad or iphone which highlights this exhibition. Includes tunes played on some of the guitars and it's free.

I'm going to be in NYC at the end of may. I hope to be able to see this exhibit. I'm going to ask them if I can play the Stradivarius Guitar. Maybe some "Stairway to Heaven" or "the G.A.S. Blues"
