I and friends were in a mountain campground and could just barely see it. The mountain ridge high enough the comet was nearly behind it. Faint enough that if you didn’t know it should be there, you wouldn’t see it.

No, but each time I see this thread, I keep thinking of this song. (Micro veer)

My wife and I saw it last week. We used some decent large binoculars on a clear night. It was very faint and honestly a bit disappointing. Nothing at all like GAD’s or other photos I’ve seen. I wish I owned a telescope or whatever folks use to see these phenomena.

The comet did not look like my pics to the naked eye. It was better through m 85mm TeleVue scope, but still not like the pics. Through 8x42 binoculars it was kind of a comet-shaped smudge.

Astrophotography is often stunning because of trickery. People often complain that they don’t see the pretty colors in a telescope that they see in pictures, and that’s because most astro photos are “stacks” of 20-100+ photos combined on a computer.

Mine above is not a stack, but it is a 2” exposure through a 135 f/2L lens which means it captured far more light than the naked eye can.

The biggest hurdle for any astronomy today is light pollution. Without it the comet would be VERY clear in the sky. Sadly we like to see in the dark.

I had the original picture sleeve 45 rpm of “Have You Seen the Saucers” that a guest “borrowed” years ago. I cant remember who it was...must have been a good party...
