If so, go to Lipitoroffer.com. It's the manufacturer's website. You give them some info, and you get a card in the mail, Give the card to your pharmacist and your co-pay becomes $4 / month. That lasts until you've saved $600, or the end of 2012, then you're done. Does not work if you're on Medicare.

I did this and it works for both MrsT and me.

Sounds like spam, but it's me. Proof?

Me- I've got 2 straight nights of John Prine coming up.
Scratch- Went off the reservation with a short-scale Gibby, but we still like him.
Bluespicky- The kid can play some.
Hans- knows everything

True story. The roomie is on Lipitor and he saves $50 a month on the stuff. It only costs $110 instead of $160 per month. When his new insurance goes into effect next month, it will go down to $4. It's a HUGE savings, so if you take Lipitor... GET THE CARD!!

it's subsidized here by Pharmac (govt dept). Costs me $3.00 a month for all my meds (plus the cost of the visit to the doc to get the script) System has been a bit run down over sucessive governments (both right and left), and is subject to payola from the drug companies, but in general it works for me.

Cheers, Ian

Do you guys on Simvastatin get the achy joints or the cough ? I learnt to deal with the achy joints, but I got the cough after getting the flu and just couldn't shake it. About then I changed to Lipitor, which also apparently works better for higher doses.

I'm allergic to all statin drugs; side affects from rash to nearly being unable to walk. The muscle aches and pains were unbearable. As it turned out, I was allergic to a number of different heart medications as well....BP meds, ace-inhibitors, etc; whose side affects may be acceptable to some but not to me. As I've probably mentioned before, about a year or two after my quad-ruple by-pass surgery in '05 (no not 1905  ) I stopped all medicines with the exception of my diabetic medication. I also quit smoking.

I've no doubt that many drugs are life-savers. But I'm also certain drug companies scam us, using an ignorant government, unscrupulous politicians, and "willing" physicians as their tools for distribution. After going through 3 cardiologist who kept prescribing a drug they "knew" I was allergic to, I exchanged them for one bottle of red wine a week, a bit more exercise, and supplemented them both with Corona. My total cholesterol? Approaching 190.

I stopped taking my statin too. Aspirin and fish oil now (I'm allergic to alcohol, and I love a good cold Bud). I get alot of exercise but my diet could probably use a makeover. Last time I went to the cardiologist, I had a P.A. see me and she started prescribing more pills along with the statin (I promise you, she was on something. Acted very unsure of herself, her eyes were beet red and glassy... it was weird). She didn't consult with the real doctor, and I walked away from there very confused and kinda angry. I stopped them all and with the Lord willing I'll keep strumming for a little while longer.
