[quote="crank I've seen them in the$600 range so that sounds reasonable to me. I am prejudiced because I love mine, but I think it's a lot of guitar for the money.[/quote]

Agreed, I have a late Westerly D25 & it's been in the case for months. The G 37 hangs on the wall next to the F20 & is played regularly. To my ear it's just got more stuff than the few D25's I've played. It's also a bit on the heavy side.

$600 for a good G37, with a relatively flat top & good neck...and you can play it before deciding, a good value in my book. Play it, if she speaks to you, pay the,man & take her home.

After shopping for months I found this one on Bend, Or's Craigslist for $500, just so happens I have a neice lives in
Bend. I put another $125 - $150 in some minor work & setup, oh yeah, I almost forgot, there was the $60.00 I gave Harry, aka Guilded for a vintage
Guild case.

Beautiful guitar there Jeff!

Well the bad news is my instructor just called me to let me know he wanted me to come by at noon instead of 11am and I aked him about the G37 and he said that after I left today he spent 4 hours playing it and realizes now why he bought it to begin with and that he didnt want to sell it but would let me know own down the line if he decided to. I still really liked the guitar so that leaves me with one option

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 6398wt_945

not as cosmetically sharp as the one I would have gotten for $600 but essentially the same guitar.

any thoughts on this one? like i mentioned above it just looks a bit scratched and dinged up for $679...unless you guys think it still looks like a steal...?

The same thing happened to me, a fella in Portland offered me his G37 for $600 & it was a boomer. Like a dummy I decided to sleep on it. When I called back to buy the guitar he'd changed his mind.

I don't know how to advise you on the Ebay G37, description says it's in good shape, total price, with shipping a little over $700 is probably a reasonable price.

G37's hit the local Craigslist here every once in a while, usually asking $800 or so. Seems to me they hang unsold for quite a while at this price.

I think you could find one for a bit less, or one in better condition for around that price. I mean it looks pretty decent but you're right about all those marks in that one pic.

I'm just more wary of buying an acoustic long distance vs. buying an electric. Patience is in short supply around here, but I advise it! ;)

Oh yeah, here's the thread about the one I looked at and geoguy ended up buying later on. Check out the difference between that one and the earlier '70's models. Crazy figured sides and back.

I was reading that thread yesterday and there was a lot of good info in there. Trying to use the search function more and not ask repetitive questions heh  Everyone always says the cosmetic appearance doesnt matter as much as the tone and I agree to a point, but when I am dropping over & bills I want BOTH! I know that is a lot to ask though, If I could talk him down to $600 I would likely get it but he isnt budging on the price.

Hey Mojo,

Just be patient. The right one will come along and when it does, you won't be disappointed. I think we all know how bad GAS can get, and at times we are willing to buy anything that pops up on ebay or craigslist. If you want a G37 in good condition, it will come... eventually. You have your D25 to keep you busy. Besides I think the burst G37s to be way cooler anyway. Something about burst on maple...

GAS is kinda like the blues..."Got the GAS that can't be satisfied" anybody? anybody?

I am gonna give the G37 a play with a pick tomorrow, I almos thave to believe he would let me pay half and pay the rest as I go which would allow me to get both the 79 D25 and the 78 G37...and have me all set until the next GAS attack...
You just gotta learn to stop hangin 'round with all them "enablers".
Guilds are a hell of a Drug!
At least they won't rot your teeth! BY the way I second and third the advice about patience and absolutely agree with you on holding out for cosmetic satisfaction. 8 bills is a big chunk to me too. Even 5 or 6 bills. I wouldn't expect to find anything truly worthwhile for less though. You should introduce your teacher to the forum. Maybe he'll see something he wants that he has to sell the '37 for.
