Another “I Have Sinned” thread

I’ve wanted a 12-string for a while, been watching here for an F-x12, but things happen.

Found a 2004 Seagull M12 on eBay. It looked pretty good in the ad, and the seller was within driving distance from me. I really didn’t want to deal with shipping. I threw in a last minute bid, got it for $305.00.

So, it’s mine. I just picked it up and it’s gorgeous! The seller strictly plays electric, claims he bought it 3 months old and it hasn’t been out of the case since. I believe it. There isn’t a smudge, dent, ding or scratch on it.

Very low action. He put new strings on it and it sounds great; a little bright, but I don’t think it’s even opened up yet.

I’d still like to eventually find a Guild twelver, but this will definitely do in the meantime.

Since you mention you got it as a way to wait until the day you find a Guild, your sentence will be reduced.
It looks good, enjoy it!

Guitars are becoming more and more like women to me... although we may love one (or a brand) more than all the rest, it doesn't mean all the rest don't deserve a little love from somebody at least.... :D
(now I gotta figure out how to turn that into a lyric)

Whatever you come up with Al, don't sing it to your girlfriend. :?
The "little love" for others is a concept that no woman would ever grasp.....

Yeah I know. Even if I insist it's somebody else who should care for all the deserving others, you just KNOW it's gonna backfire somehow  . Heck she doesn't even believe she's not gonna be the #4 wife. I told her she'd at least be number two behind Hally or at the worst #3 behind Blondie, but do you think that helps? Noooooo......

Wow, 305! Sounds like a good deal on a warm-up to a Guild.
Seagulls are actually pretty decent guitars. One of the guys in our little session last night had a nice dread 6-string that drowned out the D-18 to his right!

My son-in-law's 12-string is just like yours and it sounds good, especially when tuned down to D.

Enjoy,
Joe

Yeah, they make a pretty nice 12 string, I always used to play the ones they had at a local music store. And you've got a glossy top, looks like - those are a bit more rare, they didn't make alot of glossy guitars. Looks like a super deal! Enjoy!

$305 for anything decent nowadays is a great deal. Looks like a winner... at least until your Guild comes a knockin'

Nice bit of 'bearclaw' on that top. Good score. Also from the Godin family, I used to have a Simon and Patrick Parlor model that was very well put together. Quite like the look of the Godin 5th Avenue archtop as well, for a bit of old 'Bob Dylaning'!!

Bluesy, It kinda sounds like there's a story behind your advice.

Re: Another “I Have Sinned” thread

I actually sold my JF-30-12 because the big neck was hard to fret and the jumbo body size had become uncomfortable to play.
I used the money to purchase my D-55.

I feel that I traded up on the deal but within a few months, I missed having a 12 string.
One day, while in a music store, I played a Crafter Dred 12 string that blew me away.
It's a solid top Sitka over laminated s&b Mahogany Dred guitar.

The intonation is the best that I have ever heard on a 12 string.
It plays easy with a slimmer and lower profile neck than the Guild had.
Tone is very nice but does lack a bit of bass.
This guitar has stopped my 12 string GAS for now.

One day though, I would love to step back up to a new F512 with the new single truss rod neck.
I just don't know if I cwill be able to live with the jumbo body though.
