How about a suggestion from you guys of a reasonably light and reasonably priced amp for my Nightbird. Thanks so much, Ken

Hi Ken, depends what you want to do with it. Just living room? Street performances? Stage? Size of venues?

Thanks for your reply. Just living room, but worthy of a GG Nightbird! Ken

My gigging amp for the past 15 years has been a Roland BC-60 Blues Cube. This is a small, punchy solid state combo amp that sounds as good as most tube amps. My Bluesbird sounds fabulous thru it. Unfortunately, Roland stopped making them years ago, however you can still find them on Ebay, etc. Most Roland amps are very good, and would make your 'bird sing!
If you want a simple, great sounding tube amp, the Fender Blues jr. is a great little amp.

You could build yourself a Champ clone. There's plenty of pretty simple kits around.

I just picked up a used VHT special 6 ultra for $185.00. It's an all tube 3-6W amp with clean and a high gain channel plus boost. Easily modded and the tubes are easily swapped. I highly recommend it, especially for the price.
Thanks john

Reasonable is a moving target. It may not be for you, but I'll tell you the Victoria Trem de la Trem is simply amazing with my Bluesbird. And that's with the stock p/us, which are coming out today.

I'd suggest a boutique champ clone like this:

I'll chime in here. When I started looking for an amp, I wanted vintage tube at an affordable price. The Ampeg J-12 with 15w and 1x12 kept coming up again and again on forums around the web. Furthermore, nobody had a bad word to say about them. Most guys agreed that they sound like a Fender Tweed for a fraction of the money. Very loud, great tone. My '69 was a very reasonable $250 shipped, I guess because it's not as cute as the earlier models. Looks almost new. Sounds like a million bucks. Only 25lbs. There's just nothing to complain about except maybe the crummy tremolo, but I don't care about that anyway. There are pics in the Amps & Effects section.

I'm partial to Vox. The AC4TV or Night Train series are good for in home entertainment.
