Sure, they're called P.A.'s. ;~}

Electric guitar amps are (for the most part) supporting an instrument having a magnetic pickup only and provide a subset of the frequency range of an acoustic guitar amp, which adds support for piezo pickups and microphones. You can certainly use only one or the other, but the results are usually less than satisfying.

If I had to pick only one it would be an acoustic amp due to the more pleasing sounds I would get when using an acoustic (or even a hollow body electric). While it would still sound "ok", I wouldn't win any awards from the heavy metal crowd when plugging in a solid body electric, throwing on the distortion and cranking the volume to 11.

I have a Marshall AS80R (they also have a 50 and 100 watt version.) It has separate jacks for piezo acoustic pups without a preamp (the amp supplies it) and preamped acoustic or electric pups. Solid state, not tube, it also has a mic input. The electric is very clean, more acoustic oriented, so you would need pedals for any type of grit, but it can do double (triple if you include vocals) duty.

Im sure there are others, but this is one I'm familiar with.

This was my thought as well! You can use a modeler for electric, and a dedicated acoustic preamp for the acoustic, and run both through a small PA.

But that's probably much more complicated of a rig than you're looking for.

Rivera Amplification's Sedona series is built to use for acoustic and electric guitars...

Thanks, Dave. I had completely forgotten about that amp. Now I remember attending a Doyle Dykes concert a few years ago where he talked about working with those guys to come up with the very thing that Darryl is asking about. He would swap out electric and acoustic guitars using the same cable. Of course, the amp was mic'd through a PA, but it was one amp for both acoustic and electric.
