I am floored. This site has been around since 1998. If you’re not familiar it’s a camera site that was a goto for reviews and such.

It hasn’t been the same since Phil left, but holy crap.

Hopefully a lot of the content will be available on the Wayback Machine, otherwise, what a waste of info!

Didn't even know the site existed, which is just as well as I shoot 2MP images and I'm happy with that, they fit the internet fine without downsizing anymore. The rabid consumerism surrounding photography doesn't do anything for me, as I look at one pic on the site from a Nikon lens, 45MP, Holy cats, and people look at that on their phones?

That blows the Happy Meal and Prime Week away in terms of well done selling people something they don't need.

That site's a rare survivor from the early days when the internet blew up. It's also an amazing and solid photographer's resource. I would assume that they're not pulling in the revenue they used to, and my guess is that younger people don't have the attention span to read and pore through comprehensive reviews like they used to. I know my boys choose to watch youtube reviews instead.

Too bad. It was a valuable resource that many working photo professionals used.

Ugh. I hate seeing professional sites go under. You can use just about any shoe-phone level of camera to get filler images for the internet (🤐), but that isn't any closer to art than a cupcake is to French cuisine.
Amazon is about selling stuff and paying as little as possible for expenses, while maximizing profits.
