That is wonderful. We're still wondering if they'll ever fix the potholes on our road, if there's anything leftover from the missions to Mars ;]

The first moon landing was quite the event! My memories are perhaps tainted by my youth at the time, but that seemed so much more amazing. Maybe because there were actual astronauts walking on the moon...

Space travel has become so commonplace that it doesn't have the amazing impact it did in the '60s. NASA actually had this problem with the later Apollo missions because the appetite for it started to wane after they'd gone to the moon a few times.

The terrain looks a lot like the desert out West.

I live in one of them there deserts.

With an atmosphere of only 10% of ours, I wondered how the helicopter was going to look, Prop to body size ratio and all that.

Did they really go to the moon?

Like they could communicate to the moon in 1969 but 50 years later cell phones don't work barely two miles from town in the wheat fields, and that's on flat land, with line of sight.

Does make you wonder...

Sounds like you need to upgrade your cell phone...

No cell phone works where we live, 12 miles from town, none ever has or probably ever will, but 2 miles from town?

Cell phones not working here is a blessing. When you talk to people, they look at you instead of their phone. Summer hires on the farm just work instead of texting. There's never car accidents besides the overly inebriated sliding off the road into a tree, because you can't text and drive.

When you walk out of the house, no phone to lug around and drop or lose.

A lot like the old days.

How close is the nearest tower?
