Hi,
I'm new here and need some advice.
I'm looking to purchase a 97 or 98 near mint JF65 (pick-up, amazing tiger maple markings etc) but I'm finding it a bit to difficult to work out what would be a reasonable price for it. Any ideas, please?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks. That neck looks a bit scary. Has it cracked or broken?!

The one I'm looking at is very very similar to this one. Price is about the same as well.
By the way they're looking for about 2,200 US dollars for it.

I could be that the guitar had a neck reset done by someone who’s not Guild savvy. Guild applies the finish AFTER the guitar is assembled unlike some other manufacturers and the finish around the neck needs to be carefully scored before removing the neck or the finish will chip. But your guess is as good as mine. Also I have to agree that 2K seems a bit steep.

Thanks, guys. There are no pics of the one I'm looking to by but the one on the NZ Trade Me site is pretty much exactly the same.

Hi Westernman: the NZ-listed model says: "Sounds great acoustically & through pick up." The lesser models don't always come with a pickup and the NZ seller doesn't really make it clear whether his guitar has one or just that it did at one time and it sounded good ... my point being that factory on-board electronics add value although by most technical standards, though fine when manufactured, whatever is current on the aftermarket is nearly always more sensitive. Anyway, thought I'd mention it ... good luck and welcome to LTG.

HI Westernman, welcome aboard. Just want to point out, don't confuse that F65 with a JF65, they are two very different instruments.. Your links indicate you're looking for a "JF"65, you might want to edit your thread topic title to get more feedback.
Also our member West R Lee may still have one for sale from just that era. It would be well worth your time to send him a private message through the board here.
Where are you by the way? Did you post that link from the New Zealand site because you live there or was it just a handy picture of a JF65??

Hi westernman,

I'm alson in NZ, I've sent you a PM. Drop West R Lee a line he has a JF65 for sale. That one on Trademe belongs to another member here: Neil. I bought my D55 from him.

Give me a holler if you need any help about importing to NZ. Whereabouts are you: West Auckland ?

Cheers, Ian
