Its obvious I don't visit music stores or up on the current electronics  , so I thought this would be a great place to start. I'm looking for a device that plays a loop of your rythms and bass notes while improvising solo lines and comping over it, along with a drum beat. Any such pedal/ machine thingy? I've been out of the "loop" for thirty years and getting back into playing and would like to get a solo act doing original and some jazz standard stuff. I'm sure electronics have grown leaps and bounds in those thirty years, so what pedal would someone here recommend? Thanks for any suggestions

Dunno and would be interested in the answer.

It was a studio setting but Zulu clearly had something that could get maybe as much as 30 seconds of a bass line looped to cover a 3+ minute track with results discussed here.

I have a Digitech "Jam Man", it's well beyond my needs & skills, simple functions like recording a rhythm track & overdubbing leads are pretty simple to master. Apparently my model has been discontinued, however youtube has demos of newer models.

I guess a trip to the music store is in order to check out the Jamman, looks like its what I've been wanting. Theres a couple of stores here, I'm sure at least one carries Digitech. The learning curve on it looks steep but might well be worth it for my applications. I just needed a little education before plopping down a couple hundred. Ya'll are the best. Thanks
