Great photo! Is it possible they were flying in a "flock" of some sort, or I guess more accurately a "convocation"? That would be quite rare, right?

How cool is that?

We used to camp up on the Nooksak when I was stationed out there - God's country for sure.

This is all part of an annual gathering on the two northernmost rivers in Washington state, the other being the Skagit, which is one county south of here.
Both rivers have big salmon runs in late fall and the eagles seems to know this (avian grapevine) and gather upstream close to where the spawning grounds are.
Last year's count on the Nooksack was more than 700 individuals, and that's just on the main fork of the river.

Lots of eagles around here! :wink:
