So who has the job of cleaning the printer afterward?

I actually think this is an inevitable trend. I wouldn't mind eating this kind of thing, although I suspect that nothing I eat (diabetic) will be coming out of a printer any time soon.

3D printed food is not new. The article is about a new record for the number of ingredients in 3D printed food.

Extruded food has been around for decades. Macaroni is extruded food. I’m sure some has to clean those nozzles. Probably.

After every shift.
I was the HACCP Co-ordinator in a Poultry processing company, and was responsible for food safety. Among my responsibilites was having all instruments, tables, utensils, and surfaces within the processing areas power-washed and chemically sanitized every night, and subject to my inspection and prior approval every morning before production could begin again.
That's the way we do it in Canada, and I assume in the U.S. as well.
