Archtop.com has this listed in the coming soon section:
1975 Guild D-40C Custom, natural, rare cutaway dreadnought, ornate fingerboard inlay.
I've emailed to Joe to let me know when there is more info and pictures, but I'm curious if anybody has any idea what the "ornate fingerboard inlay" might be. I'm wondering if it might just be the block and triangle like the F-50, D-55 and AA have or something more ornate. Also wondering if anybody has any suggestions on a price range for a custom D-40. This might be the mahogany dread I've been looking for, depending on the price and condition.
I can probably get away with it, just the other day, I was looking on eBay and my wife noticed and said, oh, is it time for another guitar! Maybe someday I'll rival Grot, although i'd have to have a new house, I'm already running out of room here!

I'd wait to see it before getting too excited. I don't know that cutaway 40s are all that rare... there have been a couple on the bay in recent months. I'm guessing that the "custom" ornate inlays on this one might be later additions, rather than factory upgrades.... so it's hard telling what they might be.

Even being a small store in the middle of Central Illinois, we sold a lot of D-40C so just being a cut-away D-40 isn't very rare. "Ornate fingerboard inlays" is pretty vague too. I'm interested in seeing what makes this guitar rare.
