OK... my continuing search for a nice Guild 12 may take me on the road on Monday. A 75 F-212 XL, in mint condition, according to the seller. We'll see, of course, but if true, what's this thing worth? Prices seem to be all over the map.

Dave,

If I'm reading correctly, my Blue Book says 1,200-1,450 in excellent condition; 900-1,050 in average condition.

Good luck,
Joe
:D

Uh oh. You are stoking my GAS attack!

Told ya... It's 12 strings season! Get them while they're hot!
Myself, Joe, now you Dave, and I think Jimbow has the fever also and might very well be next....
I hope you can get it Dave, the sound is overwhelming. I actually just put my 212 down after making myself dizzy playing good old Hotel California on it... It is soooo rich, harmonics are flying all over the room, you could spend the night just picking the same chord!
It wouldn't happen to be in my neck of the woods no? I'm off Monday it would be a pleasure to hook up with you again...

Well, I don't know if it's happening, yet.

Actually, over the years I've had a couple of 12'ers, but they were not especially good instruments. I think the first was an EKO (guitar version of a FIAT), then a Framus (strange but interesting), and maybe a Yamaha in there, too. It was the 70s. I know those of you who were there will understand if I can't remember it clearly.

But I've always found them to fascinating instruments, and I'd love to have a good one. So it'll be a Guild.

It has to be a Guild. They're just the best 12 strings going, and have been for quite some time, IMHO.

But then, I'm only entitled to MHO

Dave,

Just play one, you won't find it fascinating, you will find it necessary (to own it).....
But if you're giving up on this one, and it's a good deal, let us know where!!!! You know I'm always up for some driving...

Well, this particular F212XL went to some other Guild-o-phile. I'll stay in a low-key hunt.
