Hello all
I am a newcomer here and am trying to get some info on the Guild F-50 Rosewood model
tried searching but got no information no search results
I have found one for sale..I had one back in the '70s an F-50 R Navarre and it was one of my all time favorites
been looking for another one ever since
is it possible it could be Brazilian ? I am told it is but how can I tell?
they tell me it is a 1975 F-50
reading the post about Brazilian I read they stopped after about '71
also did Guild install pickup systems back then volume control knob o the side near the neck heel

is there anything I should look for on the label ?

thanks for the time

cheers

Hello jj,

Just post some good quality photos of the instrument and we might be able to tell you what it is.

Hi jj, and welcome!

Likely not Brazilian, but I bet it's really sweet anyway :D

Sure, go ahead and mail them straight to me at my regular e-mail address.

Here are some of the pictures that jj e-mailed me:

I think the back is clearly East Indian rosewood. The side has a little more figuring than what you usually see on East Indian , but I'm not convinced it's Brazilian rosewood. I could be wrong though!

Hans, Thanks for posting the pics
do you know if the pickup is factory for that period ?

seems in great condition but have not seen it in person yet
any idea of pricing for these '70s F-50s

this one is priced a bit over $4000 here in Europe

thanks

Haven't watched them extensively, but that seems to be about 2x the upper end price for used F-50R here in the States. I know Guild (guitar) prices are higher in Europe/UK... but I wonder if they have put a premium on it because they think it is BRW?

thanks for the heads up but IF i do go for one it will be Rosewood
I let the one here in Europe go as I think it is priced too high and he consensus is it is not Braz
the seller is convinced it is but all the "experts" that have seen the pics think it is EIR
Maybe the sides could be Braz but that is a BIG maybe at that price
BTW there was a Maple F-50 at the Christie's auction yesterday Oct 13...sold for a little over $1100 if I recall right

cheers

I purchased my 75 F50R March of 1975 and it's Indian and looks like that one's back & sides. They did not make them with electronics. I was young back then and had all the price lists and catalogues. I was most obsessed. About then they changed plant superintendants and started scalloping the bracing.
