Well, I'm sure it's hard to remember, 6, but was the label there when you bought it?

I don't know if they did this in 1974, but could it be that yours was a factory second? If I recall, those guitars had a "B" or something like that scribbled on the label, and I *don't* know if they had any modification to the back of the headstock brand... Maybe the store sold you a second and ripped the label out?

Was going through some boxes with parts that were leftover after the Westerly plant closed in 2001 and look what I found in between some old notebooks!

:D

But, can you speak French in Russian?

Seriously, my '87 D-30 still has it's label, but it's peeling off. I think it's not too unusual with Guilds. Luckily, they put the serial numbers elsewhere.

Right after joining this forum I looked inside my ’79 D40 and found that the label was missing. I shook it quite a bit - nothing. Stuck an inspection mirror inside; still no label.

Shortly after that I brought her in for a neck reset and setup. When I came in to pick it up the luthier handed me the label. I have no idea where he found it.

I keep meaning to glue it back in, but always forget while I’m restringing. In the meantime the label is in my case.

For some reason I’m expecting that when I do remember, I won’t be able to find it.

When I bought my D35 the label was loose and in the case. Must have been weak glue or paste they used. I had my luthier stick it back in when he did the set up and changed the nut and saddle for bone. C'est la vie
