I listed my 1965 Guild Starfire IV on eBay a few days ago at what I consider a low reserve considering what a great guitar she is. Worth checking out if any of the group is looking for one, now is the time. I'm available for lots of questions. I've only changed out the bridge to a tunomatic. Never had the original. I'm the second owner of this guitar and she is stock aside from the bridge. I can't stop playing my archtops and she isn't getting the love she deserves so its time for her to move on. Contact me if you have any questions.
More soon,
Frank

That is the best condition 1965 one I ever saw so far, also the second oldest serial number so far that I have seen. What a great looking guitar!
The bridge is fine as well, especially since the wooden bridge foot is still original. The original Hagstrom bridge is available on ebay very often. But the one now mounted is way better anyway. Looks like a new case.
Good luck in the sale, if I would not have my '67 Cherry SFIV I would be all over that one! I hope a LTG member can get it.

Yep. That is one great looking Starfire - I would expect it to go for a fair bit more than the starting bid based on it's condition.
Good luck with the sale - hopefully an LTGer sees it & grabs it.

My thoughts exactly. I would love for her to go to someone in the group so I could keep tabs on her. Thanks for the nice comments, Frank

Frank, I wanted to let you know that there were technical issues with your auction. A fellow LTGer was intending to bid on your guitar but his countdown timer wasn't working properly. Knowing that a friend was interested in the guitar, I tuned in to the last two minutes of the auction and noticed the same thing -- a frozen countdown timer. If I were you, I'd consider alerting Ebay. I'm guessing they'll be able to check the records and see that there were glitches.

Kslam, Thank you so much for the heads up on this. I contacted Ebay and they (of course) said there weren't any issues that they could detect in the closing minutes of bidding. I made sure they entered my concerns on my account and they promised the tech dept would take a look at it. I tried to get my sellers fees credited to my account but no luck there either. I was told my only recourse is to get the buyer to agree to cancel the sale and we know that ain't going to happen. Not For the final sale price of $1524 yikes! My apologies to any LTG folks that couldn't bid. I would love to have kept her in our group.

Frank:

I tried to participate in the bidding and absolutely encountered issues that prevented me from engaging the auction properly. It is my opinion that you could indeed successfully challenge the outcome if you were inclined to do so and if you were adamant enough with the appropriate parties at eBay.

If you need me to elaborate for them or corroborate my experience, I'd be happy to help.

Thanks BB. I called again and pressed harder. If they find inconsistencies with the auction they would act appropriately but they need to hear it from the bidders. It probably wouldn't be a bad idea for your own sake to call them and explain what happened on your end. Reference the item number of the guitar when calling (item #180940846961 1965 Guild Starfire IV). Keep me posted please.
Thank you,

Call placed. I pressed the point as well as I possibly could and they told me that they were escalating the complaint. We even checked to make certain that my Flash was up to date and that I could successfully see other countdown timers. I further emphasized the fact that my buddy was watching the same auction in another county and that his timer malfunctioned as well.

I told the woman that the item sold for "well under market value" and that I was particularly chagrined to have not been able to participate. I know that she noted this in the file because I could hear her typing.

I'll talk to Kslam about placing a call as well. Then I think it would be a good time for you to inquire again as to the progress of the case.

I noticed the timer was frozen when I when to the auction with about a half hour to go. I still have the tab up with the auction & it's in the same state. See the screen capture below. Notice the current date (I'm in Australia so 14 hours ahead of the US east coast). Maybe this will help with some proof of the problem:

Thank you for your support everyone. I'm on my 4th call, 2 with supervisors and not making much headway. I did make contact with the new buyer however. A nice enough fellow in Chicago that is excited (as I was) to get his first Guild. Rather than put my mojo into trying to make the river change its course, I've to decided to embrace the situation for what it is and move on. Knowing this guitar is going to someone who appreciates it is important to me. I'm going to ask Conor if he's interested in joining LTG. The show of support here has been amazing, a serious thank you for your efforts to all involved. Time for me to move on with this one and get back to enjoying my 59' M-65 I just bought.
Thank you LTG
Best, Frank

Hi Frank, which brings us to the point that you have not introduced your 59' M-65 yet, or? :)

I had a similar experience recently when trying to bid on a DE-400. As I tried to submit my bid the screen froze, and it wound up selling for much less than what I was willing to pay. I didn't address the matter with Ebay, but perhaps I should have. As for your 59 M-65, let's see it!
