Hi, folks,I'm having to replace the harness in my 1964 Starfire V.The tone caps appear to be stock, and .047.
I'm used to using .022 with minihumbuckers.Any thoughts?Thanks.D

Ummm... try both?

Edit: let me put it this way: anyone entitled to an opinion has tried both (and maybe others.) Why not earn the merit badge yourself?

If you leave the tone knobs all the way up it doesn't really matter. Otherwise .022s will keep things above pure mud for more of the knobs' travel compared with .047s. My old Tele has a .01mfd tone cap, which is still pretty dark with the tone pot all the way down. Back in the day if Guild, Gibson, Fender, etc. ran out of a particular component they'd often just use something else to keep the production line moving.

Yep, the 47 is going to be full-on mud when you turn down the tone. If you don't use the tone pots, it won't matter.

My '64 CE100D has .05uF on the neck and .005uF on the bridge with AntiHums.
