Today we will say goodbye to our wonderful dog, Majnu (meaning: "Love Crazed" in Arabic) who is 17 years, 4 months 9 days old. He is a Dandie Dinmont Terrier, quite rare. Quality of his life is the issue. We will bury him in our backyard, surrounded by flowers.

So sorry to hear Rich. 17 yrs is a very good long life and I’m sure you gave him a good loving home. It’s never easy and for those who have always had dogs know all too well about that once in a lifetime dog loaded with personality. They are the rare specials ones you love so much it kills you to make that dreaded decision, yet that same love still compels you to do the humane thing when you are seeing them suffer on a daily basis. Knowing if you did the right thing is never the issue, it’s just having to do it that sucks so damn much. 😢😢 I feel for you. ❤️

Oh no.... I'm so sorry, Rich. Glad you're making the tough decision, but damn!! We lost our parrot, Sherlock, last month. He was 43. It's so damn quiet around here.:cry:

So sorry to hear Rich. Been through it too many times and it is never easy. It’s the right thing to do and the final gift you can give to such a cherished member of your family.

Thank you all for the kind words. They have helped us to deal with the grief.

Sincere condolences. They're family.

I dread the day that I outlive ours, if that's the way it works out.
