If we could pan down... would the owner of the bolt cutters still be there?
Arson: no. Darwin award: yes.If we could pan down... would the owner of the bolt cutters still be there?
Huh . . . a miniaturized wall-mounted air compressor. The only logical explanation.
Is that romex coming out of the wall, with the red paint and then going right? I don't get the air hose clamped into the electrical box and clamped like is was romex. I suspect they used it for insulation of something electrical.
Can you contact the prior owners, GAD? I'm not sure, but that looks like a quick disconnect hydraulic hose, but that makes no sense at all. It certainly doesn't look like a power cord. And, whatever it is looks pretty badly crimped coming out of the box.Yeah - with all the boxes involved there's Romex just punched through the wall.
The best idea I've seen as to what's going on in the pic is that there's a pressure switch in the top box that's triggered by whatever the quick-disconnect is supposed to connect to.

Let us know when you find out. I've never seen that before.
It's a picture from the Internet, so probably not.
D’oh!RE: the first picture . . . possibly also because vampires don't make a reflection in a mirror?
D’oh!
That makes much more sense. I totally overthought that one. LOL
First time! When have you ever overthought anything?
possibly. took me a minute...
