If there had been no Allman Bros there would have been no Skynyrd, IMO.
Yep, this Florida sand has grown some pretty great acts - Skynyrd (Jacksonville), ABB (Daytona Beach), Tom Petty (Gainesville), and (for a bit) Stephen Stills (Tampa-St. Pete.). And one more, Don Felder (Gainesville).

RIP Dickey. Might not’ve been a Gov’t Mule if not for him. 2/3 of the original Mule are on this record, with his homage to Duane on this rocking tune here:

One of the outtakes from the Brothers On The Road DVD. (Which that University of Florida clip posted earlier I s also from) A little late night hotel room jam w/ Dickey and Dan Toler (Dan and his brother were in the Allmans touring band during the very early 80's (and were in Dickey's side band Great Southern in the 70's....and Greg Allman's solo band in the latter 80's)

Another favorite with Duane Allman and Dickey Betts playing "Little Martha"

now this song I have heard. And that is just both of them playing on 2 acoustics? What a great capture in time then...

In my experience, Clapton has the chops, but mails it in too much. Dickey always brought it.
I don't mean to be a loser, but I am not a Clapton guitar fan. I mean, I think his best guitar work is the live version of Crossroads., That one song and effort he does/did is probably one of my all time top 5 Guitar efforts, period. Outside of this one event, I could care less outside of historical guitar significance. but if you grow up a rabid Pete Townshend guitar fan, it's hard to really like other guitar players lol.

I don't dislike Clapton. At his best, he's right up there with the best of them. the problem is that he has rarely been at his best the times I've seen him live. The very best performance of his that I personally saw was when he sat in with the Allman Brothers Band at the Beacon Theatre in 2009. Like when he's at the Crossroads Festival, nothing keeps him more honest that standing in between Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks!

Have to agree. Clapton since the mid 70’s imo has phoned it in and doesn’t seem too inspired. When his reputation is thrown on stage w/ the likes of a Derek Trucks or a Jeff Beck, he seems to wake up and remember why he got that God moniker all those many years ago. The 2 times I’ve seen him I was bored to tears…as was Clapton, seemingly.

Check out the vids where he joins Beck during his set at the Crossroads fest. Ol’ Slowhand actually takes it out of second gear!

I agree with this completely. That Crossroads solo(s) was his peak, IMO.
