And Skynyrd, arguably.
I liked some of Skynyrd for sure. I believe they came a little after Allman Bros...I wonder if they all knew each other and hung out. My fave Skyrnyrd tracks I must leave radio on when they come on:

Saturday Night Special
Simple Man

That music takes me back to another era. One of my favorite old albums from back then is the double live Allman Bros, Idlewild South?

They had two drummers, a big part of their sound.

"Live At the Fillmore East"

Just read a tribute from Steve Stevens, who is Billy Idol's long-time guitarist and is also a great player. He said if you grew up playing guitar in the 70s Fillmore East was your bible. And then there was Eat a Peach.

I had just received my Drivers License; I had to beg my parents for permission to drive the 20 miles to the next town to see the Original ABB.
We literally drove through a forest fire to get there.
We got there hours early so we could get close; it was open seating.
Duane and Dickey were incredible. The whole band was tuned in, listening to each other and really playing hard.
That show was one of the great experiences of my life.
Dickey was a unique triple threat talent; guitarist, singer, songwriter.
Now you and Duane can play on. RIP Dickey

My left handed Guild playing bassist who is a few years older than me and grew up in NYC was at the Fillmore East show when the album was recorded. Lucky old buzzard.

He wrote it in a graveyard.
Well not really. He was having sex in Rose Hill Cemetery in Macon Ga (where Duane and Greg are both buried) and noticed the headstone next to him belonged to one Elizabeth Reed, the name stuck w/ him and dedicated the song to her (but mostly to the memory of what took place at the foot of her grave) 😉
