Bucovak's Homeskoolin' vlog is IMO one of the best things on YouTube right now. Ep. 19, which came out yesterday, includes an appearance by his SF-III. Besides playing it a bit he also gives it, particularly the anti-hum pickups, more praise than I've ever heard him give any guitar. Also features a good Jazzmaster tip for folks (like me) into them.

Can't post the cool YT links from iPad Safari, but here it is anyway:

Oh, the cool links work now!

That's cool, I didn't know this guy! Very interesting. I NEED a starfire right now 🙈😂 t
Edit: I am tempted to annoy Alberto with an offer for his ridiculously overprized SF IV once again

Great guitar player. Never heard of him either. But great story on the SF. Sounds great.

Bukovac is right up near the top of the "best guitarists you've never heard of" class. He's a session guy by trade, also a sideman but rarely the front guy. I think he was born with good taste embedded in his fingers.

He played with Joe Walsh when Walsh opened for Tom Petty on his last tour. There is one episode that he talks about what a great bunch of guys Petty's entire band were on that tour. Bukovac, according to what he said in the YouTube episode, was supposed to head out on tour with Vince Gill around that same time as he had been playing with him for a while. He said Vince looked at him and said go on and do the Petty tour with Walsh, you're a rock guy.

I love this guy's tone and musical knowledge.

I had a '68 that I regret selling to this day. Bought it back in the 90s because I was such a Buddy Guy fan. Phenomenal guitar.

Very cool to see Tom Bukovac posted! I didn't know he had a YT channel, and I didn't know he was a Guild fan either. Now I have to watch all his vids too!

I grew up in Cleveland, and I'm always astounded at the amazing variety of bands and musicians from this area and Akron too. Must be something in the flammable water.

Great to see a player who appreciates these older Guilds for what they are, but he definitely needs to read up on the history of the various Guild models!

Yeah. I noticed a few of the minor flubs, too, but hey, I'm just excited he's a Guild fan promoting the brand.

Thanks for the link. I’m glad there are 18 more to watch!
There's more than 18! Before Homeskoolin' he had a different series going. I think it started as a quarantine lark, then he found people were actually watching & commenting.

He’s a really talented player. As someone said, he plays music, not just a bunch of hot riffs.

I love the DeArmonds too. Bukovac doesn't like 'em for session playing 'cuz of the hum, but I bet he's fine with 'em otherwise.

Was he right when he said the full sizes guild humbuckers first came out in 1966?

I like the mention of the DeArmonds on his Silvertone. I have an old Harmony with the "mustache" version, and it is one of my best sounding guitars. I'd love to try Novak's version, but that's a totally different thread.
