The switch is on the horn is the original pickup selector. You’re correct about the knob functions.Welcome! Excellent first post! I've never seen that Hofner model before, it's very cool! What is the knob layout? vol, vol, tone from top to bottom? And - what does the switch on the right horn do?

Idol on Parade (or Idle on Parade)? I suppose that even for a relatively low budget movie the cost of a Hofner (though not a cheap guitar) would not be a major expense. Bearing in mind their brand exposure in the movie, Hofner may well of supplied it free of charge!I just watched a terrible movie on DVD last night, with Anthony Newley as a 50's rocker type drafted into the British army (clearly a riff on Elvis), but he was playing (holding) a big maple Hofner Senator (I think two single coil p'ups). At one point in a fight scene he hits a guy
with the guitar, I nearly s#*t, but I suppose that was just a prop...back then!
Beautiful guitars!

Not a nice thing to see, but at least it wasn't a nineteenth century Martin!!
Same switch like Hoyer used a lot. Impossible to find a replacement handle, many of them broke the old plastic handle...The switch is on the horn is the original pickup selector.
The switch has been disabled and replaced by the sturdier toggle next to the knobs.
Hi Frankee and thanks for sharing that photo of your beautiful and gorgeous-looking guitars here!New here. Figured this was the spot for this.
The 4576 and Ambassador are different models. The 4576 is a Verithin variant while the Ambassador has the thickness of a Starfire. The one in your post was on my watchlist quite a while back. Lovely piece!Hi Frankee and thanks for sharing that photo of your beautiful and gorgeous-looking guitars here!
I personally love the looks of archtop guitars with double 'Florentine' cutaways, and your rare burgundy red Guild ST-302 looks not only amazing, but I'm sure it also plays and sounds rather great too, isn't it?
I also love the looks of your sunburst Höfner Ambassador, and a cherry red 4576/Ambassador in great condition is on my 'wish list' since quite a while now...
I should have clarified that a Höfner 4576 (a model that was made for the European market) OR a Höfner Ambassador with double Florentine cutaways (a model that was made for the UK market and distributed by Selmer) is still on my wish list, but here's one that I would REALLY like to own one day, the very rare Selmer-distributed 'Ambassador' with DeArmond 2000 pickups that was available between 1965 and 1968...The 4576 and Ambassador are different models. That's BAD! Who wouldn't want one?I should have clarified that a Höfner 4576 (a model that was made for the European market) OR a Höfner Ambassador with double Florentine cutaways (a model that was made for the UK market and distributed by Selmer) is still on my wish list, but here's one that I would REALLY like to own one day, the very rare Selmer-distributed 'Ambassador' with DeArmond 2000 pickups...
